Fundamentalist is a Live Online Artschool that teaches students academic art fundamental skills, so that they can draw and paint any subject in any angle or size, from reference, life or imagination. We are based in Sydney, Australia. We offer our classes to both Australian and International Students. Classes, discussions as well as all materials used are in English. Class times listed are always Sydney time unless specified otherwise, and the currency used is Australian Dollars. Please ensure that you are converting from your respective time zone and currency.

Video courses are "Go at Your Own Pace" preRecorded classes for you to learn from. They require a 1 time payment to gain you lifetime access. Once the payment is made, you need to log back into our website to watch and learn from the video classes. No download is available for any videos on our website. Live feedback from Orda on your artworks are available for additional payment when you request a "1 on 1 Mentorship" session.

Each live class is 2 hours long. It typically begins with the teacher giving students feedback on their artworks and then proceeding to a live demo of the next task. For example students completed a figure drawing since the last session, the class starts with feedback on it. And then the teacher gives a live demo on a figure painting, the students can work on the same task either at the same time or after watching the demo. Students can share photos of their work-in-progress artwork after the class, so that the teacher can give them individual feedback. (Live+Afterclass Feedback Tier only)

Academic art training originated in Italy and France, it is what the master artists like Bouguereau, Gerome, Repin, Vermeer and Sargent practiced to not only understand how our natural world, light and colour worked, but also to produce believable compositions from their imaginations.  The founder of Fundamentalist Orda studied in the academic method in two prestigious art schools in Sydney Australia, then Florence Italy in his early career, before starting the school. We focus on form and structure in our teaching, not "sight sizing" or any technique that relies on copying what the eyes see.

Because it is the basis of all art practice. It is the foundation that will allow you to paint fine art, figures, portraits, concept art, character design or even create your own comic or manga.  Showcasing a strong understanding of light, colour, shape design, perspective and anatomy will bring believability to your art and set you free to create amazing art from your imagination.

Any! You can use pencils, oils, ink brushes or even digital drawing tablets. The principles of art fundamentals remain the same.  You do need to be able to join Discord and either share your screen or take a photo of your art and show it to the teacher when you require feedback.

Basics of Drawing Form & Structure Video Course is a good starting point. Weekly Live Class should give you a good introduction and overview to our teaching method, it is in a class setting with 2 tiers of pricing according to your budget and needs. The 1 on 1 Mentorship is a personal, comprehensive study that will give you a well rounded art fundamentals training, starting from drawing cubes all the way to painting figures and composing complex imagery. A study plan will be created and followed to suit your level and goals.
